In the first film adaptation, Duffy is good friends with Annie and best friends with July. She has a solo in the song singing “Don't really care as long as they’re mine” in the 1999 film , Duffy is mean to Molly and Annie, she tells Pepper to beat Molly up and mocks Annie when she reads her note . Due to being a bully is more immature in the Disney film than 1982.

duffy is stepped on by pepper who is angry at molly for waking her up duffy gets angry at pepper for stepping on her so hits her with a pillow with july with july cheering her on annie breaks up the fight and duffy listens to annie sing maybe she then gets dressed after being woken up by miss hannigan and sings it's the hard knock life in the beginning she is standing at the bottom of the banister and catches 2 girls sliding down the banister she is next seen passing plates next she is on the fire escape with molly standing with her showing her something duffy then walks upstairs following around molly pretending to be hannigan at the end duffy strips a bed and throws it into the hamper and covers annie up when mr.bundles comes she mocks miss hannigan saying "mr.bundles" she puts the hamper in the truck and runs back inside during sandy she sings the solo "but there's no bite in him" when annie leaves duffy waves goodbye to her in the window annie says bye to duffy during the maybe reprise duffy sings "don't really care as long as they're mine" she sings in your never fully dressed without a smile children reprise duffy is playing a game with kate tessie and july when molly warns them about lilys and roosters plan to kill annie duffy tries to escape but gets caught and locked in the paddle closet pepper finds an escape and duffy warns daddy warbucks duffy is seen in new clothes and celebrating 4th of july with her friends
